Here are some great resources to help you and/or your community group serve locally:

3 Bags in 2 Days

3 bags in 2 days provides bags of basic necessities to those living in poverty while providing a sense of dignity and respect at the same time. Building lasting relationships is the key to aiding these people living in poverty which leads to restoration of hope.

Ways to Serve: 
  • collect items and distribute bags of basic necessities to those living in poverty
  • Note: volunteer times vary according to need

Community Kid's Closet

Community Kids Closet is a volunteer based ministry working for God in a partnership with public schools, churches, businesses and other organizations to provide new clothing to low income elementary-age children of Northwest Arkansas.

Ways to Serve:

Laundry Love

Laundry Love partners with local laundromats in cleaning the clothes of those living in shelters, motels, cars, garages and on the streets. It is their mission to take laundromats and convert them into hubs of relief; granting reprieve to those living in oppressive poverty.

Ways to Serve: 
  • assist people checking in, loading quarters and distributing detergent
  • Note: Volunteers are asked to serve for at least three consecutive Laundry Love events to maintain "familiar faces", to create consistency in presence and to build relationships.

Life Source

Lifesource International is a non-profit organization whose mission is to give a hand up, not just a hand out, using a holistic approach to help individuals and families in need. Lifesource helps families in stress by customizing services to meet their unique needs along with assisting them through programs and services.

Ways to Serve: 
  • adult education teaching/assisting: ESL, computer skills, personal financial management, resume/application skills, interviewing and job search skills 
  • food storehouse: sort and bag food and clothing
  • senior Saturdays: help prepare meals, set tables, serve food and interact with seniors
  • Kids Life After-School Program: tutoring in reading and math, develop positive study habits and mentoring

Loving Choices

Loving Choices Pregnancy Centers of NWA is here to provide counseling and limited medical services to those facing a crisis in reproductive health, such as an unplanned pregnancy or a sexually transmitted disease. Additionally, Loving Choices provides education, training, and resources.

Ways to Serve: 
  • volunteer peer counselor

  • building maintenance – Rogers location

Samaritan Community Center

Samaritan Community Center is a grace-driven, non-profit organization that was founded over 20 years ago. Through food pantries, resale stores, health centers, SnackPacks for Kids, physical and emotional healing guidance, and many other initiatives, the staff and over 500 dedicated volunteers freely give unconditional love to clients regardless of their faith.

Ways to Serve: 
  • food pantry: fill food lists and stock and shelve food items
  • encouragers: talk and pray with customers (training provided)
  • SnackPacks: pack and/or deliver SnackPacks to at-risk children
  • the café: prepare and serve food
  • thrift store: assist in sorting clothing and other donations

Saving Grace

Saving Grace in Rogers offers young women who are aging out of foster care and group homes security and hope by providing transitional living, independent living education, educational assistance, and supportive relationships. Saving Grace also encourages these young women to deepen their faith, strengthen their resolve and learn to trust others.

Ways to Serve: 
  • mentor a young woman 
  • office support 
  • cleaning or yard work crew

South Church

South Church is a ministry to low income, high need people in South Fayetteville and surrounding areas. A meal is served each Sunday night and a worship service is offered. South Church also helps provide sleeping bags, tents, coats, hats and gloves in cold weather.
