Using the outline on page 25 of our book, have an intentional dinner date with each child and ask them the questions at the bottom and use it as a teachable moment for both of you (be quick to listen and not respond).
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12:10
Table Talk:· Who is someone you know that has showed humility. Where did you catch someone showing humility? Starts with a fingerprint…· What does humility mean to you? Who have you seen show humility? Where do you see humility? What does it look like?
Dana Dorch shares how kindness can be a lesson we teach out kids at every stage. Kindness is an overflow of the relationship in our heart with Jesus! Opportunities for us to interject kindness in someone else life happen every day!
Kindness is giving up something for the benefit of another.
Gracious Father, open <child's> heart to know the real love of Jesus’ gift of salvation. Help her to be willing to give herself as He did. May <child> be sensitive to see ways she can meet the needs of the people around her. Father, help <child> to love others not only “with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.”
Teachability is developing a heart attitude that seeks God’s guidance for living to honor Him each day.
Father you are the Giver of every good and perfect gift. Thank you that you want to give wisdom and instruction to my child. Lord, I desire that the very center of being would be like a dry sponge soaking up your sweet and refreshing teachings.
At Fellowship we operate under the idea of fingerprints everywhere, name no where. But, what does that really mean?
Lord, it’s a hard thing to learn how to put others above yourself and serve them with a willing heart in true humility. Create in heart receptiveness to the opportunities in her life that help her to apply this principle. Reveal to that real character is being able to humble herself before you and others.
Kindness is something that we learn when someone else demonstrates it for us. Its even something that can be learned from a childhood. What better place to learn than in our homes?
"In a world where bullying among young people is an epidemic, this is a refreshing new narrative full of heart and hope. R.J. Palaciohas called her debut novel 'a meditation on kindness' —indeed, every reader will come away with a greater appreciation for the simple courage of friendship." - Review from Givingtons.com
